MYLAPORE SHOPS

The paintings in this ensemble are at once nostalgic and practical, as they venture into the narrow, historic lanes of Mylapore, but ultimately land up in small shops offering a cup of coffee, an ironed shirt, or even recycled plastic bottles! Kavitha says: “ I’ve used heavier pigments and overlays here to convey the mild chaos inside such shops, the patina of dust on everything, and a paler watercolour to signify light.”
